Magic of Words

Words are magic. Yes, I truely believe so. In illnesses, in openning up our minds, or in solving our problems, words spoken can truely become prophecies. Because we bring out the energy of the words into the world. Life is all about energy. Everything that we can dream of is energy. Our body, our thoughts, our emotions, the clouds, the chair we sit on, the whole universe – they are all energies. So are words.

Don Miguel Ruiz, a teacher of the ancient Mexican Toltec wisdom, says in his book “The Four Agreements” : “The word is not just a sound or a written symbol. The word is a force; it is the power you have to express and communicate, to think, and thereby to create the events in your life.”

Have you ever worked with affirmations for healing? It is one of the most widely used methods of complementary medicine. Affirmations are used to change our negative feelings, thoughts and conditionings to positive ones. Most of us, do it aware. Most of the time, automatically we think the negative; we expect the worse. And unfortunately, as a human being we seem to have the power to make what we think a reality. What we believe, seems to have a much greater chance of coming out to be true.

Again, Don Ruiz expresses his thoughts on the power of words, in the above mentioned book, as follows:
“Every human is a magician, and we can either put a spell on someone with our word or we can release someone from a spell. We cast spells all the time with our opinions. An example: I see a friend and give him my opinion that just popped into my mind. I say, ‘Hmmm! I see that kind of color in your face in the people who are going to get cancer.’ If he listens to the word, and if he agrees, he will have cancer in less than one year. That is the power of the word.”

Louise L. Hay is one of the worldwide known authors on personal well-being. She specialises on affirmations, on sentences that have positive and empowering meanings. Louise Hay was faced with a terminal illness, and cured herself with affirmations together with other complementary treatment methods such as reflexology, which a type of massage applied to the bottoms of the feet, and colonic irrigation. In her books, which are readily available in English and Turkish such as You Can Heal You Life , she offers affirmations that would speed up the healing of various health problems. Another metod of using affirmations, it to realise an emotion or thought that bothers you and work to clear it. For example, if you beat yourself up for your mistakes, you may use the affirmation “When I make a mistake, I realize that it is only part of the learning process.” Or, if you would like to have a loving relationship, you might want to repeat the affirmation “I draw love and romance into my life, and I accept it now.”

Hay calls an illness a dis-ease with the hypen in the middle of the word disease. The use of the word written as dis-ease is rather commonly used these days in the complementary medicine literature. It is generally believed that the key to an illness is the lack of ease in the mind due to negative thinking or negative emotions that cause the body to react disharmoniously in the end. Then the illness, the dis-ease in the body becomes apparent. With words, we can stop this negative mental chatter. Then without the negative input, the body has a chance to heal and come back to its natural balance and health.

Of course, these methods should always be used in conjunction with modern medicine and only as a complementary. We are basically aiming at not creating any new illnesses. Use of words is one of the tools. There are many other tools that we can use to improve our lives and bring in health, love and prosperity, such as reiki, reflexology, massage, acupuncture, yoga, meditation, bioenergy, art and many others. I will introduce some of these techniques to you in the coming weeks.

Of course, there are many reasons for an illness; however, it is rather safe to accept that positive thinking, expressed as positive talking, can eliminate some of the reasons for illnesses.

Dr.Deepak Chopra, the American doctor and author of Ageless Body, Timeless Mind, says: “ Before the art of medicine, comes the art of belief. Our culture chooses to believe that disease is basically created on the material level. The cause of disease is often extremely complex, but one thing can be said for certain: no one has proved that getting sick is necessary. We all create scenarios and then become convinced by them, down to our very cell. ” Words seal or change and improve those scenarios.

Believe in the positive; think the positive; say the positive.

Wish you the best. With love. Z.
